(Los Angeles, CA) – Los Angeles Citizens Against Lawsuit Abuse's (LA CALA) radio program "The Broken Gavel" is the only radio program focusing on the problems of lawsuit abuse and issues facing the legal system that affect LA County and California. The show, which is sponsored by LA CALA, airs Saturday nights at 7:00 pm on leading local talk radio station, KRLA 870am, the weekday home of some of the nation's most popular radio talk shows including Laura Ingraham and Dennis Prager.
A weekly review of the use, misuse and abuse of the legal system, "The Broken Gavel" premiered August 4 pm. The show is hosted by Peter Bylsma, executive director of LA CALA , the only watchdog organization dedicated to fighting lawsuit abuse in Los Angeles County. In addition to live broadcasts, the show can also be heard on demand at the LA CALA web site at www.losangelescala.org.
"The Broken Gavel is the only show that addresses the facts about our out of control legal system and how it impacts the people of Los Angeles. The Broken Gavel is dedicated to exposing the ugly truths about how so many who deserve justice are delayed by those who are taking advantage of the system," said Bylsma.
"The Broken Gavel" focuses on controversial and newsworthy legal issues including civil justice reform and highlight the impact of those who use the legal system for personal gain on Los Angeles citizens and the state. Each hour-long show features newsworthy topics and interviews with issue opinion and action leaders, segments on lawsuit abuse news, legislation and issues. The show welcomes input from attorneys and calls from listeners.
"Just imagine what it would be like to be the next person in line at the courthouse behind the guy filing that $54 million lawsuit against the dry cleaning business over a misplaced pair of pants. That's the position our legislature and the legal profession places the people of Los Angeles and the citizens of California right now," said Bylsma.
The show themes include:
- Americans with Disabilities Act abuse
- "Does Lawsuit Abuse Exist?"
- Lawsuit abuse and the crisis in medical care
- Impact of attorneys on California
- Employment suits and harassment
- Impact of lawsuits on California education
- Class-action reform
- Fighting Anti-Slapp
- Asbestos lawsuit abuse
- Jury service reform
- Lawsuit Abuse Awareness Week
- Impact on building and construction industry
