Who says a group of grassroots individuals can't make a difference against a well-financed political machine like the California Trial Lawyers?

CALA, as part of a coalition, has made a difference in putting a stop to legislation in Sacramento that would have exposed businesses to more frivolous lawsuits.

AB 36 and SB 11 would have allowed trial lawyers to have companies make public propriety information simply by filing a lawsuit. Their goal was to change the law so that trial lawyers could use the system to blackmail companies into settling lawsuits out of court in order to protect their propriety information.

Thanks to the voices, e-mails, and letters from CALA members throughout the state, the legislation was held in Committee and never saw the light of day.

This was a victory for all of us who want to put an end to the out-of-control civil justice system in the state of California.

To those that helped, thank you. To those that didn't believe it could be done, now you see it can be done, join us.
