Jury" and "Operation Jury Service" By Providing Jurors with a
Free MRE Lunch
Join Sgt. Jury and his company as they make a
live appearance outside the Los Angeles Superior Court House.
Sgt. Jury will arrive in his Army Jeep towing Meals Ready to Eat
(MREs) for jurors and passersby. Informational materials on the
importance of serving on a jury will also be supplied. "Operation
Jury Service" is a reminder that when citizens fail to serve when
called, the result can be juror shortages, which serve only to
delay justice for those seeking their day in court.

Against Lawsuit Abuse (CALA), together with "Sergeant Jury" the
lead character in the public education campaign have launched
"Operation Jury Service" to boost public confidence in our justice
system and to increase citizen participation in jury service.
Sgt. Jury is reminding citizens "There's no excuse! -- Serve
on a jury."
WHY: CALA has come together
in response to the appalling statistic reported that only five
percent of Los Angeles residents responded when called for jury
duty, according to the Los Angeles Times. CALA is committed to
affecting positive change in the public's attitude and behavior
towards jury service. "Operation Jury Service" has been launched
to combat the misperceptions about jury service and to encourage
more citizens to serve.
VISUAL/INTERVIEWS: A visual
tour of the military vehicle, Sgt. Jury interacting with the public
to provide MREs and discuss jury service, plus interviews with
all spokespersons are available.
